Blackbaud Recognizes Inspiring Fundraisers at this Year’s JustGiving Awards
A host of celebrities joined this year’s GoCardless JustGiving Awards at the iconic Roundhouse in London to celebrate the remarkable feats of the inspiring fundraisers which supported nonprofits on JustGiving in the last 12 months.
British Broadcaster Rylan Clark hosted the 12th award ceremony where seven winners as well as JustGiving’s Special Recognition Award winner were announced.
“It was an honour to celebrate and formally recognise the incredible finalists at our awards ceremony last night,” said Pascale Harvie, Senior Vice President at JustGiving from Blackbaud. “Every single person who takes action to support a good cause is truly amazing and while they don’t do it for the praise and recognition, they absolutely deserve it. On behalf of everyone at JustGiving, congratulations again to all our finalists and winners, you are all extraordinary.”
The individuals were selected from more than 18,000 nominations by a panel of judges and put to a public vote. Judges included professional BBC Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden, broadcaster Adele Roberts, TV personality Jake Quickenden, Paralympic gold medallist swimmer Ellie Simmonds, TV presenter Sunetra Sarker and returning judge, radio presenter Rickie Haywood-Williams. They were also joined by JustGiving president, Pascale Harvie, and managing director at headline sponsor GoCardless, Pat Phelan.
The ceremony was attended by special guests including ITV’s Charlotte Hawkins, Paralympian gold medallist Ellie Simmonds and former Olympian Fatima Whitbread.
The winners and remaining finalists raised an impressive £16 million for good causes between them, including a group of 25 grieving mothers known as the Angel Mums, an eight-year-old boy who lost both of his legs and nine of his fingers to sepsis and a 13-year-old girl who ran 100km whilst battling cancer.
