Apple Pay Setup
Supporters can pay with Apple Pay for one-time and recurring gifts when using a compatible Apple device with the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, watchOS, or macOS.
For a website to accept Apple Pay, its domain must be verified with Apple.
-
Donation forms launched from a Blackbaud-hosted URL are already verified and display Apple Pay automatically
-
For donation forms that are embedded or launched from a hyperlink or button on your organization's website, you must verify your domain with Apple
Tip: You don't need to complete these steps if you launch the form from a Blackbaud-hosted URL.
-
Download and unzip the Standard Form Apple Pay verification file.
Note: This file is different from the Optimized Form verification file.
-
Place the file at the following path on your domain: https://[DOMAIN]/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.
Tip: If you embed your form in Blackbaud School Website System or Blackbaud NetCommunity, you can skip this step — the file is already in place.
Note: For assistance, reach out to the resources you'd normally engage for help with your website.
-
Embed the donation form code snippet into your webpage.
-
For existing forms already embedded, copy the code snippet and re-embed it.
-
-
Complete a credit card payment through your form. For Standard Forms, Apple Pay displays 24 to 48 hours after the form processes its first payment.
-
Wait 24 to 48 hours, then visit your form from a compatible Apple device and confirm that Apple Pay appears during checkout.
-
Repeat for all domains (such as myorganization.org) and subdomains (such as donate.myorganization.org) where Apple Pay should appear on an embedded Standard Form.
Tip: You don't need to complete these steps if you launch the form from a Blackbaud-hosted URL.
-
Download and unzip the Optimized Form Apple Pay verification file.
Note: This file is different from the Standard Form verification file.
-
For each domain (such as myorganization.org) and subdomains (such as donate.myorganization.org) where Apple Pay should appear, place the file at the following path: https://[DOMAIN]/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.
Note: For assistance, reach out to the resources you'd normally engage for help with your website.
-
Contact Blackbaud Support and provide your domains.
-
Await confirmation from Support that your domains are verified.
Tip: Test your form by viewing it from a compatible Apple device with latest version of iOS.
Note: For Blackbaud School Website System and Blackbaud Website Package, Apple Pay is not yet supported for Optimized Forms launched from a hyperlink or button. For Blackbaud NetCommunity, it’s only supported for sites hosted on your organization’s domain.
