The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation was established in 1985 to strengthen the health and well-being of the region by catalyzing positive changes in healthcare, education, the arts, and other causes. It provides philanthropic support for West Tennessee Healthcare and its 18-county service area. We asked the Foundation how the adoption of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT helped them further their mission. Here’s what Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Fowler, Donor Services Associate Haley Wildridge, and Community Outreach Associate Rebecca Creasy had to say:
Q: What aspects of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT do you find most valuable for fundraising and relationship management?
A: Since transitioning to Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT as our sole database,
we are focusing on the health of our data throughout the system and
exploring new ways to utilize Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT for day-to-day
processes. With the resources offered in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, we
have merged thousands of duplicate profiles, updated deceased records, and
verified addresses
This cleanup has allowed us to use different tools more efficiently in
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, like email. We have added accurate and helpful
information in constituent records, from constituent codes to relationships
and more. This information allows us to easily create constituent lists for
vital online communication with our different constituents, such as board
members, fund representatives, and donors. In addition to the ease of
creating email recipient lists, the email is recorded on the constituent
record automatically, which is beneficial to our focus on more accurate
data tracking. We are also able to use this information to send birthday and
anniversary cards, flowers, or other gifts to recognize moments and create a
more personal connection.
Another huge advantage of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT has been our ability
to eliminate duplicate data entry and create more efficient processes. We
eliminated our use of Excel in tracking tribute information for honorarium
and memorial gifts by entering the tribute information directly on the gift
record. This new process is a key part of data tracking because memorial
and honorarium gifts are important to donors and with information readily
available, our communication with the donor is positively impacted.
Q: What aspects of Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT do you find most valuable?
A: Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT allows us to access information more
efficiently. With one or two clicks, we can see vendor history, fund balance
information, payment attachments, and much more. Blackbaud Financial Edge
NXT is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Before the switch to Blackbaud
Financial Edge NXT, the finance staff would run separate reports for this
information, but now all users are able to find what they need.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT has also given us the ability to start using new
tools. Expense Management along with Blackbaud Purchase Cards have been
a huge benefit to staff and our internal and external fund representatives.
Our reimbursement process previously involved the use of a personal credit
card and a longer turnaround time for approval and reimbursement. Now,
we can use the purchasing card, seamlessly record the transaction, and then
electronically approve instantaneously.
Q: What are the benefits that you’ve experienced in using these solutions together?
A: We would not be able to function without the reliability provided by using
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT and Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT together. The
integration of these solutions creates trust in reporting and data tracking. The
development staff and the finance staff can directly work together when issues
of reconciliation occur and be confident in pulling information independently
because they know that the correct information is in both systems.
Q: How are these solutions helping you raise more money for your campaigns?
A: As we navigate the launch of WE CARE, our new employee giving campaign,
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT has been beneficial in tracking campaign progress, communication, and cultivation to help us raise funds more efficiently.
Accurate reporting to hospital administration and employees is essential to
continue growing the campaign. Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT provides us with
the tools to maintain detailed gift records, create custom reports, and utilize
exports to accomplish this. For example, we used data from our WE CARE
gift records to build an export showing participation by hospital department.
After evaluating the information, we reached out to departments with lower
participation and gave them more information about the campaign.
Stewardship is also a huge factor in raising more money for the WE CARE
campaign, and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT allows us to record those actions
on donor records.
