We talked with Church Administrator Michael Langston of Hunter Street Baptist Church to learn why his team adopted Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT® and heard how Blackbaud quickly came through for the church at a critical moment.

Going Live Ahead of Schedule

With the church’s previous accounting software, the team could not write checks or pay vendors. As a result of those and other unforeseen issues, Hunter Street Baptist Church needed to be live on Financial Edge NXT and audit ready. “Our previous vendor threatened to turn off our software even though we had an upcoming audit, which created an urgency to be live in six weeks,” said Langston. “We partnered with Blackbaud, a third-party IT firm, and npAutomate and were live on Financial Edge NXT in three weeks. It was a drastically better experience compared to what we had with other software vendors.”

Saving Time for Everyone

Setting up Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT’s Expense Management and view-only reporting access for users has been a huge timesaver for the church. “We have between 40 to 50 people who submit invoice requests, which makes managing expenses easy,” said Langston. “The view-only reporting capabilities save me an entire day’s work. Users can securely access the reports directly in Financial Edge NXT and because of how we have it set up, even nonfinancial staff can self-serve.”
