Meals On Wheels Association of America Partners with Blackbaud to Empower its More than 650 Member Programs
Meals On Wheels Association of America is a national membership organization, and its members comprise mostly of senior nutrition programs in the United States. MOWAA member programs provide nutritious meals and other nutrition services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail, or at risk. These services significantly improve the quality of life and health of the individuals they serve and postpone early institutionalization.
The Challenge: With many of MOWAA’s member programs relying heavily on government support that is steadily decreasing, fundraising is quickly becoming more of a necessity rather than an additional source of support. With limited funds, many member organizations were developing waiting lists as large as 400 people who were in need of their meal programs. Since so many of its member organizations were working with basic spreadsheets and disparate constituent management systems, it was impossible to gather information from a national level; therefore, it was difficult for the Association to fulfill its mission of supporting its members.
The Solution: With The Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud’s fundraising management solution, Meals On Wheels programs throughout the country will be able to better organize their databases, donor lists, client information, and more. The solution will also enable the Association and its member programs to further develop their major donor programs and better manage their membership and online giving programs. Blackbaud will also play a key role in MOWAA’s new initiative to enable member programs to increase the number of people they serve while continuing to provide the same high quality care to each individual.
