Save the Bay Save The Bay Uses Blackbaud Solutions to Achieve Fundraising Record
Save The Bay was founded in 1970 with the initial objective of stopping the proposed development of energy facilities along Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay. It was successful and has since been working to restore the Bay, which was once a dumping ground for raw sewage and industrial toxins. It has also expanded its mission of protection to include restoration projects and exploration programs.
The Challenge: In 2006, with the 30th anniversary of its swim event just months away, Save The Bay wanted to have a record year for fundraising and participation. The organization needed an integrated system that would help them build online support and streamline fundraising and event registration processes, which were previously done on paper.
The Solution: Save The Bay used Blackbaud NetCommunity’s team fundraising capabilities, which enabled swimmers to build personal pages and rally support online. The organization also chose The Raiser’s Edge® and The Financial Edge™.
The Results: A record-shattering 421 swimmers participated in the event, and the organization beat its fundraising average by 67 percent, raising more than $209,000. Online transactions were automatically stored in The Raiser’s Edge, which integrates with The Financial Edge, saving valuable time and resources.
