Philanthropy We believe there’s more to running a software company than just making software. Our founder, Tony Bakker, recognized the important role philanthropy and civic action play in healthy societies. So in the early days of the company, he set efforts in motion that built a strong foundation for our corporate philanthropy and employee-led initiatives.
Today, we continue this proud tradition, seeking to make a difference in the world both as a corporate citizen and as a catalyst for individual employees. We believe that changing the world for the better takes both a strategic, broad-reaching approach and hands-on, grassroots action.
Here are a few specific things we do to help make a difference:
- Employee “Reward Your Passion” volunteer impact grants
We make donations to nonprofits where employees volunteer, honoring the way individuals embody our corporate value that “service to others makes the world a better place.” An employee committee selects the recipients of these quarterly donations.
- The Blackbaud Fund at the Coastal Community Foundation
We make grants to organizations in the Lowcountry of South Carolina (where we are headquartered), focusing on education for disadvantaged youth. An employee committee selects the recipients of these annual grants.
- Team Blackbaud
An employee-led volunteer core coordinates campaigns and group volunteer activities in each of our locations. One member from seven localized groups serves on Team Blackbaud Global, which works with Corporate Relations & Philanthropy to represent the employee perspective.
- Volunteer for Vacation
We offer employees the ability to earn additional vacation days as a reward for volunteering. This benefit gives individuals the flexibility to find a perfect match for their skills while encouraging philanthropy through hands-on involvement.
- Volunteer opportunity “job bank”
We maintain an internal resource used by Blackbaud’s employees across the world to match their interests in volunteerism with opportunities to serve. |
